Formed in 2004, Kitikmeot Tire Mine Service Ltd. (KTMS) is a joint venture between Fountain Tire Mine Service, based in Edmonton, Alberta, and Kitikmeot Corp. KTMS supplies both tire labour and service to the mines in the Northwest Territories including both the Diavik Diamond Mine and the Ekati Diamond Mine. KTMS’ objective is to deliver the best practices in tire asset management, safety and detailed product performance reporting utilizing the most recent technology and highly trained certified heavy duty service technicians to safely mount, demount and repair large off-road tires.
Fountain Tire Mine Service has an Indigenous Employment Program starting with a Tire Technician Training Program consisting of on-line Certified TIA Training (Tire Industry Association) and hands-on skills training.
