In 1976 the Inuit Tapiriit of Canada created the Inuit Development Corporation (now known as Nunasi Corporation). The corporation was created with the purpose of ensuring Inuit take a prominent place in commerce. Nunasi exists to drive business growth in the industries that benefit Nunavummiut most, including health services, energy, infrastructure, and federal procurement. Nunasi is embarking on a three-year strategic plan where they will focus on new industries and new opportunities for investment. Nunasi’s head office is located in Iqaluit NU.
Nunasi’s shareholders are Kitikmeot Corporation, the Qikiqtani Inuit Association and the Kivalliq Inuit Association.
